E-Ink Alarm Clock with MP3 Player - A Personal Project
Creating an E-Ink Alarm Clock with a Custom MP3 Player was a satisfying personal project. The inspiration for this project came from a simple desire - to wake up in the morning to our favorite tunes without being blinded by the harsh glare of a traditional alarm clock's display. This unique device blends modern technology with a touch of nostalgia, offering a delightful and customizable way to start the day.
The idea began with the quest for a more peaceful and personalized wake-up experience. I envisioned a sleek and minimalist alarm clock that would not only blend seamlessly with any decor but also provide a soothing, non-intrusive display using E-Ink technology. This display would be clear and crisp, with the added benefit of being gentle on the eyes during nighttime hours.
Features and Components:

E-Ink Display: The heart of the project is the E-Ink display. Its low-power consumption and high contrast ratio were perfect for this application. I chose a size that was large enough to display the time and alarm settings clearly but small enough to maintain the clock's minimalist aesthetic.

MP3 Player: Including a MP3 player was a prerequisite. This allows us to upload and change music easily and was a key design feature.

Alarm Functionality: The alarm clock offers the possibility to set one alarm and to snooze. Having the ability to set an alarm is essential otherwise I just made a pretty clock.

User Interface: A simple and intuitive user interface was vital. I designed an interface with just three buttons for setting alarms, setting the time, adjusting volume and choosign the music.
Challenges:
Building this E-Ink Alarm Clock with a MP3 Player came with its fair share of challenges, particularly in integrating different components seamlessly and programming the device to function intuitively. Developing the MP3 player software in combination with trusthworthy timekeeping required a deep dive into coding, but the end result was highly rewarding.
