I had the incredible opportunity to lead a mesmerizing Projection Mapping Workshop for primary school students at the Leonardo da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology as part of their educational program. The primary goal of this workshop was to introduce young minds to the captivating world of projection mapping and inspire them to create their own digital artworks.

Workshop Structure:

Each workshop session accommodated a group of 14 enthusiastic students, spanning a duration of three engaging hours. The workshop commenced with a glimpse into my journey as an artist, showcasing some of my own work, and offering insights into the creative process. Subsequently, I explained the concept of projection mapping through various examples.

Hands-On Exploration:

The students had the opportunity to experiment with projection mapping themselves, igniting their creativity and curiosity. We divided the group into pairs, and the stage was set for collaborative artistry. They worked with Isadora on laptops equipped with projectors in pairs.

Each pair embarked on the task of creating a projection mapping for specific parts of a sculptural structure composed of cubes of varying sizes. They were empowered to map images and videos onto these objects, crafting small sequences. At the end of the workshop they made a small perfomance guided by a soundtrack.

Theme and Materials:

The students had the option to choose from a predefined set of materials, or in some cases, we facilitated the use of webcams to incorporate "live" visuals drawn with paper and pencil, adding a touch of handmade magic to their digital creations.

Projection Mapping Sculpture:

The sculpture was composed of white cardboard boxes in varying sizes, assembled to form a single, visually captivating structure. The choice of the sculpture's shape was made thoughtfully, considering the projector's angle for optimal coverage.

The workshop was a memorable journey into the world of projection mapping, where young imaginations were set free to blend art and technology, creating a truly magical experience.
